We’re approaching our first big presentation deadline this week, presenting initial ideas for a campaign that will serve as the foundation for a wide variety of materials.
I can’t tell you how much fun that is.
The date is set. You want to not only impress, you want to leave the client almost stunned with how good, how on target, how insightful and powerful the work is that you’re presenting. I love this pressure. I love being in the concept mode and then seeing those concepts turn into reality.
That ‘s the joy of this business. Being on my own, I unfortunately haven’t had the chance to experience it as much as I did during my agency days. Now, the pressure is heightened even more. I’m the account guy, the creative guy, the new business guy and to a degree, the accounting guy as well. And I need to satisfy all those guys while wow-ing the client at the same time.
It’s a little crazy. But it’s working.
Just to add to the responsibility mode, I’m also now going to be the guest speaker guy. A few weeks ago, I joined a networking group called FaceNet. I’ve been to several of their meetings and have enjoyed getting to know a whole new group of people. It’s led to several new contacts and I’ve learned a few new things as well from their guest speaker series. Now, I’m slated to be one of those guest speaker at their meeting on Monday, February 13.
The topic? Unleashing your inner artist.
